A WHITE JADE SCREEN

Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period (1736-1795)

Height: 20cm (28cm inclusive of Later stand)

The jade screen is carved on one side with a mountainous landscape scene of a scholar and attendant crossing a bridge as they leave an old sage’s house. The house is set against a steep cliff overlooking a river. The back is carved with a landscape depicting a pavilion on a mountainside.
