Incense Implements

A SMALL BAMBOO INCENSE STICK HOLDER

17TH CENTURY

HEIGHT: 10.4CM

The incense stick holder is finely carved in relief and openwork decoration with a scene of two scholars admiring a landscape flanked by an attendant holding a stack of books. The bamboo is patinated to a deep russet brown colour and is fitted on the top and bottom with ivory mounts.
