A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A LAMA

TIBET, 17TH CENTURY

HEIGHT: 7.2CM

The figure is depicted seated in a half-lotus position wearing layered robes, the outermost layer of the robe is tied together by a ribbon below the chest. He stares forward intensely and holds a jewel-spitting mongoose. The figure is cast in bronze richly gilt to the exception of the hair and the sealed base plate.
