QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
LENGTH: 13CM
The finely patinated zitan box is naturalistically carved in the shape of a large lingzhi fungus head with a bat hovering over it, its wings outstretched. The large lingzhi is flanked by smaller fungi rising from the sides of the cover and box in high relief. On the underside of the box, the stem issues a large shellshaped leaf flanked by a further hovering bat.
