The marble panel is mounted in a zitan frame which slots into a zitan stand with waisted shaped sides. The stand rests on two cross rails framing an openwork latticework design and the base of the frame is decorated with a scrolling chilong dragon design. An inscription is carved on the upper right corner the four-character ‘dan ling pu bu’ 丹林譜布 (‘Red Forest Falls’) and the poem can be translated as:
仿黃鶴上樵句 Imitating the Poems on the Yellow Crane Tower 蒼山石仙刊 Cangshan [a mountain in the Yunnan Province] Shixian Print
The ‘wen yin’ 文印 seal mark is in red.
Shixian was one of the pseudonyms for Wang Song 王崧 (1752-1837), a famous scholar in the Qing Dynasty from the Lanxiong region of the Yunnan Province.
