17TH CENTURY, TWO-CHARACTER ‘ZHI TONG’ MARK
LENGTH: 9.9CM
The bright orange and mottled beige soapstone is finely carved in the form of a finger citron water vessel issuing from leaves and tendrils coloured in green and brown pigment. The circular mouth is encircled with an incised wave pattern, accented with coral and turquoise beads. A two-character ‘zhi tong’ mark is incised on the side of a leaf.
