Incense Implements

A BRONZE CENSER AND COVER

Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

Diameter: 9.5cm

The censer is of slightly compressed globular form with a short straight mouth, broad shoulders, a shallow foot and a flat base. The cover is pierced to resemble the pattern of guri lacquer, with a cluster of heart-shaped ruyi -head guri pommels forming a central medallion roundel. The bronze is heavily cast and well patinated to a slightly greenish colour.
