Incense Implements

A BRONZE MELON-SHAPED CENSER AND COVER

Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

Length: 17.8cm

The bronze is cast in the shape of a melon issuing from a single branch with leafy stems flanking the vessel and extending towards the base to form three shallow feet. The pierced cover shows smaller leaves and melons forming the knop. The bronze is deep brown in tone.
