Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Height (Including Stand): 35cm
The sculpture is made from a single heavily gnarled rootwood section, tapering and twisting at the waist. The rootwood is well patinated to a lustrous deep brown colour and is mounted on an elevated Suzhou-type hongmu stand.
An example of a lingbi limestone of similar twisting form is illustrated in Spirit Stones of China 怪石, 1999, Catalogue No. 6
