A SMALL GREY YING SCHOLAR'S ROCK

Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)

Length: 9.5cm

The irregular grey limestone rock is accented with various shallow jagged peaks and displays a thick white vein running along the middle section. The rock rests on an elevated and well-patinated zitan stand.

PROVENANCE
Ando- Naoyuki 安藤直行 (1858-1908) -- A Meiji-era nobility of the Tanabe clan, located in Wakayama Prefecture in the Kii Peninsula. A wooden Japanese box is dated to Meiji year 30 (1897)
