MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY, SIX-CHARACTER ‘DA MING XUANDE NIANZHI’ MARK
DIAMETER: 8CM
The circular box is finely carved on top with a garden scene depicting a scholar under a pine tree next to a pavilion flanked by two attendants. The sides of the box are decorated with scrolling camellia flowers and leaves between two borders. The base is covered with a layer of dark brown lacquer and incised with a vertical six-character ‘Da Ming Xuande Nianzhi’ 大明宣德年製 mark outlined in gold lacquer on the left.
