QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY, SIX-CHARACTER ‘DA MING XUANDE NIANZHI’ MARK

The censer has bombé sides rising to a tapered neck and an everted lip all resting on a flared footring. The censer is flanked on either side by Makara-head handles. The base shows a six-character ‘Da Ming Xuande Nianzhi’ 大明宣德年製 mark cast in relief within a recessed cartouche. The surface is well patinated and covered throughout with dense gilt splashes.
