The incense stick holder is cast in bronze in the form of a dog seated on a shallow elliptical pedestal with its head turned back, ears drooped down to the side of its head and its tail curled to the left of its haunch. The back is embellished with a small ring forming the hole for an incense stick. The surface of the bronze is well patinated with a splash of gilding on its lower back.
