SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)

The yellow jade is carved in the form of a squatting monkey with its right arm scratching the back of its head whilst its left arm clutches a peach resting on its lap. The jade is overall pale yellow in colour with russet inclusions skilfully incorporated on the face and its left arm. The surface is polished to a matte unctuous texture.
