AN IMPERIAL STAINED IVORY RUYI SCEPTRE

QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

LENGTH: 37CM

The sceptre is intricately carved in openwork with, on the stem, lingzhi fungus, narcissus flowers and clusters of grapes against a dense foliage. The ruyi head is decorated with two peaches and a prunus flower. The branches and leaves of the ruyi are stained to a warm green colour, whilst the flowers and lingzhis show traces of red pigment.
