Incense Implements

A White and Grey Jade Incense Box and Cover

Ming Dynasty, 16th Century

Diameter: 6cm

The jade box and its cover are both carved in shallow relief with fruiting lychee branches, each lychee decorated with a different pattern. The jade is pale grey with dark grey inclusions.

The box is carved in imitation of contemporary cinnabar lacquer incense boxes.
