QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

The waterpot is carved in the form of a hollowed peach borne on a leafy stem
issuing smaller attendant fruits. The stone is of a warm honey-orange tone.
Objects fashioned from yellow agate appeared in the 18th century and were
often found in the form of small scholar’s objects. One such example of a melon
and leaf washer was published in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the
Palace Museum: Small Refined Articles of the Study 故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系:
