The bronze censer is heavily cast in a compressed bulbous form resting above three squat tapered legs. The flat rim is mounted with a pair of upright loop handles. The base is cast in relief with an apocryphal ‘Xuande nianzhi’ 宣德年製 mark in an elongated seal script within a recessed cartouche. The censer is well patinated to a cool brown tone and decorated with gilt splashes along its exterior.
