The rock crystal brushpot is carved from thick walls worked in high relief, exposing some openwork tree trunks. One side of the brushpot depicts two scholars playing ‘wei qi’ under a pine tree while another scholar is standing in observance. The opposite side depicts a scholar and attendant walking upslope amidst a lush landscape setting.
