A ‘TAIHU’ SCHOLAR’S ROCK

QING DYNASTY (1644–1911)

WIDTH OF ROCK: 38CM

The ‘Taihu’ limestone is of brownish grey tone and elevated by a carved octagonal marble stand, which is decorated with scrolling foliage and geometric patterns within bracket registers.

Taihu, along with Lingbi and Ying Rocks, are the most prized types of scholar’s rocks since the Song dynasty (960-1279).
