MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
LENGTH: 11CM
The jade is carved into the shape of a horned mythical beast after an archaic jade prototype. The beast is crouching with its head turned back, facing its curly split tail. Stylised wings extend from its arms and legs while a tuft of curled mane runs down the spine issuing from a central well. The jade is lightly mottled with inclusions.
