The screen is composed of a thin rectangular ivory section carved on both sides and mounted on a zitan frame. One side of the screen is carved in high relief with a moonlit scene of two scholars enjoying the qin beneath a tree and a taihu rock whilst an attendant prepares tea. The reverse is decorated in thin black-stained etching with a scholar and attendant descending on a path within a rocky landscape. The screen is fitted on a zitan stand.
