A BURLWOOD BRUSHREST

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

The brushrest is made from a heavily knotted and gnarled section of burlwood in a form resembling a 菱角 water caltrop with terminals naturally curled outward. The burlwood has a glossy surface and is patinated to a deep caramel tone.
