The snuff bottle is hollowed from a naturally formed pear-shaped section of burl, with steeply sloping shoulders and standing on a shallow ring foot. The gnarled surface is covered with small knots with a stopper fashioned out of similar material. The bottle is well patinated to a dark russet tone.
