A YING SCHOLAR’S ROCK

MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)

The naturally formed arched limestone resembles a mountainous landscape of sharp, jagged peaks with numerous crevices and rests on two points on an elegant Suzhou-type hongmu stand with bracket feet. The stone is black with dark brown calcite veining and inclusions and richly patinated to a glossy finish.
