QING DYNASTY, YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
LENGTH: 8CM
The water dropper is potted in the form of a Six Dynasties bronze mythical beast, depicted with its head raised, exposing its protruding snout. The back is decorated with a scrolling archaistic design. The beast stands on four squat legs. The apertures along either side of the mouth allow the water to flow in. The vessel is covered with a teadust glaze ribbing at the extremities and is fired on small spur marks. The piece rests on a shallow zitan silver inlaid stand.
