Qing Dynasty, Dated Qianlong Guichou Nianzao (Corresponding to 1793)

The spinach jade rectangular cover is incised to one side with the 佛 fo character (Buddhism), the reverse incised with the characters Qianlong guichou nianzao 乾隆癸丑年造 (Made in the Qianlong 58th Year), which corresponds to 1793. The cover opens to reveal a miniature standing figure of Guanyin on a shallow rectangular base with her hands raised to her chest. The colour of the jade is a bright spinach green tone with dark speckled inclusions and polished to a high glossy finish.
