Incense Implements

A BOXWOOD INCENSE STAND

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

LENGTH: 33CM

The stand is carved in the shape of a naturalistic rootwood, with a network of seven legs entwined beneath the irregular platform. The stand is well patinated to a deep caramel colour.

Root furniture was favoured by the literati as a direct extension of nature.
