17TH CENTURY
H: 22.3CM
The figure is finely carved from a single section of bamboo in the form of a slightly hunched seated sage leaning against a rockwork ledge and clutching a lingzhi spray with his raised right hand. His hair is tied together in the back and his bearded face opens in a serene smile. He wears loose robes tied with a double rope above an apron patterned with circles. A double gourd hangs from his belt on the back.
