A JADE ‘MYTHICAL BEAST’ WATER DROPPER

MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)

LENGTH: 8CM

The hollowed vessel is modelled as a mythical beast crouching on its four paws, its head turned rightwards, revealing its furrowed brows and grinning teeth. The body is detailed in shallow relief with feather-like wings above its curled bifid tail. The jade stone is pale celadon in tone.
