QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The crane is of a flattened pebble shape with finely rendered feathers. The legs are tucked under the body and its head turned back clutching a twig bearing fruiting peaches in its beak. The stone is of a pale warm honey colour with natural reddish russet inclusions. The crown of the crane is of a translucent deep red tone.
