The bronze censer is cast in the form of a Buddhist almsbowl, with high shoulders tapering to a shallow flat foot. The censer is decorated on the exterior with generous gilt splashes. An apocryphal six-character Da Ming Xuande Nianzhi 大明宣德年製mark is cast in relief inside a recessed rectangular cartouche.
The bronze is patinated to a dark caramel tone.
