Qing Dynasty, 18th Century
The eight-lobed box and its cover are carved in high relief and decorated on the top with a chime flanked by a group of two persimmons, a lotus flower, a bat and two carp, all against a dense swastika pattern. Each lobe of the box is decorated with one of the eight Buddhist emblems on a matching ground.
The ivory is patinated to a warm tone.
