Jin to Yuan Dynasty (1115-1368)
The waterpot is thinly potted and of squat drum shape with a sloping neck, tapering to a thin footring. The exterior is decorated with moulded vertical bands of rope with incised roundels above.
The waterpot is covered with a warm, translucent straw glaze.
A similar Dingyao waterpot, dated to the Jin to Yuan dynasties is illustrated in the National Palace Museum’s catalogue Treasures from the Scholar’s Studio 國立故 宮博物院文房聚英, Kyoto, 1992, p. 152, Catalogue No. 127.
