QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
HEIGHT: 32CM
The substantial bulbous body is supported on three columnar legs, rising to a flat everted rim set with two upright loop handles. The exterior is cast in high relief and covered in gilt with stylised taotie masks beneath confronted archaistic bird motifs, all against a leiwen ground and divided by vertical flanges. The bronze is patinated to a warm brown tone.
