A CARVED HUANGHUALI BRUSHPOT

QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1662–1722)

HEIGHT: 17.8CM

Of circular, slightly irregular section and tapered form, the large stained huanghuali brushpot is carved with naturalistically gnarled knots all along its exterior in high relief, resembling the trunk of a tree. The mouth and base are fitted with zitan.
