A CARVED ZITAN INCENSE TOOL VASE

MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)

HEIGHT: 12.7CM

The zitan vase is carved in the form of the gnarled trunk of a tree, flanked with knots and tree branches issued from the vessel. An opening has been carved on top of the vase to hold incense tools.
