Ming Dynasty, Wanli Period (1572-1620)
Height: 7.4cm
The cup is of cylindrical form tapering to a flat foot. The exterior
is carved in shallow relief with patterns of taotie masks under a
scrolling dragon band, stylistically reminiscent of archaic bronzes
and jades.
The rhinoceros horn is of a rich caramel colour with the mouth and
base patinated to a dark brown tone.
