The box and cover is modelled in the form of a succulent peach with a bat perched atop each side of the fruit, borne on gnarled leafy branches issuing budding and blooming flowers around the sides. The bamboo is patinated to a reddish-brown tone.

Dr. & Mrs. P.H. Plesch (b. 1918), a notable collector of Chinese
ceramics and glass and active member of the Oriental Ceramic Society
since the 1960s.
