The censer is of bombé form rising from a flaring stepped foot to an everted rim, flanked by a pair of mythical beast handles adorned with stylised scrolls. The body of the censer is decorated in repoussé with a band of archaistic scrolls beneath a band of raised bosses interrupted by mythical beast masks. The exterior and base are gilt with lacquer. The underside of the censer is engraved with a four-character ‘Yongzheng nianzhi’ 雍正年製 reign mark.
