A SMALL ‘LINGBI’ SCHOLAR’S ROCK

MING TO QING DYNASTY (1368-1911)

HEIGHT (INCLUDING BASE): 12CM

The small metallic limestone has a horizontally-orientated craggy base surmounted by a tapered waist and a dramatic overhang with jagged contours. The lustrous dark grey surface is interrupted with characteristic white veining. The rock rests on a hongmu stand reticulated with intertwining thorns.
