MING TO QING DYNASTY (1368-1911)

The resonant grey limestone has a horizontal composition, with craggy
protrusions framing cavernous sections and layers of elliptical slits in undulating
contours similar to a mountain range with multiple valleys. Its wrinkled surface is
of a dark grey tone with prominent vertical white striations. The rock is supported
on a carved Suzhou-style hongmu stand.
